In Asian Games 2018, Neeraj Chopra of India made history by winning the gold medal in Men’s Javelin Throw on Monday. Neeraj’s first throw was 83.46 meters, although, in the second throw, his foot went out of the line, which was considered foul but thrown a spear at 88.06 in the third throw. With this, Neeraj broke his own national record.
Neeraj also threw a spear at 86.36 meters while performing in the fourth throw. He fouled in the 5th throw, but he was far ahead of the other opponents, due to which there was not much difference.
Niraj Milkha Singh is the second such athlete who has won the gold medal in Commonwealth and Asian Games in the same year. Neeraj’s feat is also special because India never won gold in Javelin. Gwalior Singh won the last medal in Javelin in 1982. In those games in Delhi, Gureez had a bronze. But Neeraj has left behind everything here.
At the same time, Neeraj broke his own national record. Neeraj’s personal best and national record is 87.43 meters, which he made during the first phase of Diamond League competition in Doha in May.
So far, the number of Indian medals in the 18th Asian Games has been 41. With 8 gold, 13 silver, and 20 bronze medals, he is 9th in the medal table
